Meet Our Founder – Ronnie Belden

Hi! I am Ronnie Belden here with Belden’s Automotive & Tires. Belden’s Automotive & Tires was established in 1972 and I have enjoyed being a part of our family-owned and operated the business as the Owner and President. I was born and raised in San Antonio, where I have always had an enthusiasm for the automotive repair industry. I got my start in the automotive world at the young age of 12 when I worked with my grandfather at his old gas station garage. Since then I knew I had a calling for vehicles and auto repair. I took over the location that is now our San Pedro location when the freeway was only a two-lane highway and nothing to be seen for miles. Since then I have slowly expanded, first the Boerne location, then the Fredericksburg Rd. location, Bulverde Rd. that opened in 2011, and now the Alamo Garage location. I believe that each of our locations is in the best possible area to service the needs of our customers.
One of the greatest joys of my professional and personal life has been for my son, Rusty Belden, to join me in Belden’s Automotive & Tires. A 2004 graduate of Baylor University, Rusty earned his Bachelors of Business Administration from the Hankamer School of Business. For years, I have thought about my retirement and releasing the reins to my son, and this year my dream has become reality. I have sold the business to my son Rusty and I am now fully retired. I am positive that Rusty will continue to maintain our business and move forward with the Belden legacy.
Rusty has worked tirelessly since coming on board in the fall of 2004, first as a Service Advisor, getting to know our customers and the daily dealings of each location, earning his way to Assistant Manager, sharpening his managerial skills with the training of a manager. After fulfilling these duties, Rusty was made Manager of our San Pedro location, running the shop in its entirety. Because Rusty put in the time and energy and proved that he was committed and competent, he later went on to be the General Manager and subsequently served as the company’s Vice President for the past five years.
As I have gradually given Rusty more and more of the responsibilities of running the company over the past few years, I have been pleased to see that Rusty has proven himself to be a capable, driven young man. I have no doubt that he will continue to serve our customers with the best in automotive needs so that I can relax and enjoy my retirement on the tee box knowing that he is in charge!
Belden’s is proud that all seven of our locations are AAA approved and our employees are highly trained and fully certified technicians. It has been over 43 years since we started our first automotive repair shop and many things have changed – from paper and pen and technicians being referred to as mechanics, to all computer-led technology and technicians being fully certified and completely educated in your vehicle's computer-driven equipment. Belden’s Automotive & Tires will continue to meet all your automotive needs, from simple oil changes to major repair work. At Belden’s Automotive & Tires, we are committed to providing quality service using high-tech diagnostic methods, but with an “old-fashioned” emphasis on doing the job right the first time. If that means plain hard work, well, we’re not afraid to tackle it. At Belden’s Automotive & Tires, it is our goal to provide a clean and safe environment for our employees as well as a timely, professional and courteous service to our customers.
In closing, as my time with Belden’s Automotive & Tires comes to a close, I want to say thank you to all our customers who have faithfully returned time and again for their vehicle repair needs. It is nice to have so many customers who have trusted the Belden family name. We appreciate our customers giving us the opportunity to grow, as we now have seven locations in and around San Antonio.
