Alright, I own and operate an auto repair shop. My client went to Belden. Spent roughly $700 for a diag, general inspection, and I’d know more if when I called to get vehicle history and clarification on what was done they actually released that info. They cited a “privacy act”, saying “their personal info will be on the invoice and R/O, so we can’t send it”. You mean their name, number, VIN, everything I already have? I was calling to get an idea what was done besides what my client told me was done to be thorough. Trust but verify is the industry motto. So, let’s go over the issue. Client complaint , rough idle, additional coolant leak. I get out to client, can hear hissing right out the door, clearly a vacuum leak. Smoke test, two joints off PCV to intake manifold causing an excessive idle over 1200 RPM. Code P0507. No idea how you missed it, clear as day. Swapped elbow joints and PCV, clear code, gone. Back idling around down at 800 RPM with no adjustment required. Second issue, coolant leak, lower rad hose wasn’t tightened down. It’s pouring out between the hose clamp and lower rad to thermostat housing. Tighten up clamp few rotations, no more leaking. This is rookie stuff. They missed both. Avoid these people, I’d say avoid this tech. But no idea what tech, because “privacy act”. I get background info from shops and vehicle and client info sent to me daily not one time in the last decade has anyone cited a privacy issue to justify not sending me records. Not one time, EVER has even a dealer used that excuse. Absurd. I’d have added the radiator hose leak but took a video, google won’t let me use a video. Has been roughly one week since date of service to date they called me. This is long term damage, didn’t happen in the last week. You touch the joint and your finger comes away with rubber degradation, covered in it. This is not as an advanced diagnostics, this is audible and visual. Massive oversight, rookie mistake, customer service= non existent. My client stated and invoice that I have shows replacement of upper rad hose, P0507 was present, no idea what the solution to that was thanks to the lack of record sharing. Additionally a statement showing coolant low, transmission fluid low, even after service I had to top off both within a week. Thanks Belden.
